Twin Moons

Denesa’s Experience Photographing This Moment

Twin moons float together in a serenade of reflected light as fleeting as a single moment of life.

Standing in the cool of the night, looking skyward with jaw dropped in awe, I discover that I can conjure a perfectly formed “other” moon with just my imagination and the help of photographic equipment. (paragraph break) This is entirely done in the camera, in a single image. No cropping. No digital effects. No photoshopping. No collaging.

Just the magic of a single fleeting moment born from curiosity, play and the love of light.

Photographed at Hakatere Beach, South Island, New Zealand in June 2017

Ecosystem Information

Our moon was formed about 4.6 billion years ago by the same cosmic forces that formed our Earth. Like holding a loved one’s hands and spinning them around us, our moon is in synchronous rotation with our Earth (meaning it always faces the same side). Our moon pulls us so profoundly that it causes our tides and forms the rhythm of our menstrual cycle, helping to inform womanhood itself.
